"Nederlands Cavalerie Officierssabel M 1876. Lange sabel No.2./ Dutch Cavalry officers sword M 1876. No.2. Excellent+ curved fullered bright finished blade. Intact black leather washer. Dutch retailers name and residence: FRANS PAUWELS over 's GRAVENHAGE (= Frans Pauwels, Hoofdstraat, Den Haag 1874-1925) in a box on the blade side. The Dutch proof mark: YZERHOUWER in a scroll on the reverse. Excellent bright finished plated steel hilt, plated steel hand guard with knuckle bow, three side bars and a forward swept quillon.
Beautiful wooden grip, covered with ray skin and a complete twisted silver wire winding.
Excellent early Berlin-Silver scabbard with two loose hanging rings and no serieus dents.
Total length: 94 cm. Width at the ricasso: 2.5 cm.

As so many Dutch military sword models, this model was also used by leading officers of the Police.
