German made Sudan M 1959 AR10 bayonet by INTERARMCO (ABCN247)(K56)(JN178-1)
Dutch made AR 10 Armalite rifle for Sudan. Serial number: 179 on the ricasso. Excellent blued double edged plain blade. German makers name: Mark of star (= Trade mark of HUBERTUS- SOLINGEN? ) , Interarmco, REG. PAT., GERMANY in two rows crisp on the ricasso. Intact leather washer. Excellent two piece reddish-brown plastic handle fixed to the blade tang by 3 brass screw bolts. Grip contains an all steel detachable tool kit, containing a cork screw, can opener, 2 screw drivers and a bottle opener.
Excellent reddish-brown plastic scabbard. It has a blackened steel throat and a permanent attached blued steel belt hook.
This bayonet resembles very close the German made SG42 bayonet. It is believed to be produced by a German company named: HUBERTUS-Solingen and distributed, together with the rifles, by Interarmco in 1959 in a very limited number.
Between 3.700 and 4.500 examples only were ever made. Including 450 for Guantamala, 500 for Burma and approx. 500 - 1.000 for Indonesia. Not many survived.
A very rare bayonet and this is the best example we have ever seen!
