Dutch M1895 Colonial (KNIL) bayonet. (ABCN 368-1)(K101)(JN146-3)

Mannlicher M 1895 Colonial (KNIL = Dutch Indies army) rifle and carbine. Serial number: 5942 C on the crossguard ricasso. Excellent dark blued double edged slim blade with Austrian makers trade mark: OEWG on the ricasso and a Dutch inspector mark: Crown over S on the reverse side. Excellent+ blued square pommel and crossguard with a hooked quillon and a muzzle ring: MRD 14.5 mm. Excellent wooden grips secured to the tang by two steel rivets. 
Comes with a very well made and nice dark brown tooled leather replica scabbard with a retaining strap. 

Extremely rare KNIL bayonet. A total of 36.000 only were produced and not many survived the tropical conditions of Indonesia. After WWII many were refurbished by Indonesia.
Production started in 1897 at OEWG in Austria. Later production was at HEMBRUG in the Netherlands. The first bayonets were delivered from Austria with a steel scabbard. First in 1911 a  brown leather scabbard was adopted.
