Dutch M1895/17 Colonial (KNIL) Pioneer /Engineer Carbine bayonet. (ABCN 368-3)(K101)(JN146-3)
Mannlicher M 1895 Colonial (KNIL) Pioneer/Engineer carbine. Serial number: 967 A on ricasso. Excellent dark blued double edged slim blade with Austrian makers trade mark: OEWG on the ricasso and a Dutch inspector mark: Crown over S on the reverse side. Excellent+ blued square pommel and crossguard both marked : KAR (= Karabine) . Hooked quillon and muzzle ring: MRD 14.5 mm. Excellent wooden grips, secured to the tang by two large steel rivets.
Excellent brown leather Indonesian made (CW) type 2 scabbard with a retaining strap.
Extremely rare KNIL Pioneer/ Engineer bayonet. A total of less then 1.000 only were produced! Production started in 1917 at OEWG in Austria. This model comes with a leather scabbard introduces in 1911.
