Mauser M71 rifle/Mauser M71/84 rifle / Werder M1869 Rifle. Excellent+ bright finished fullered blade with German makers name and residence: E. WILHELM over SUHL on the ricasso. Blade spine is very crisp marked and dated: Crown over W over 73 over a German inspection marking. Excellent brass grip with external spring. Excellent bright finished steel crossguard with quillon and muzzle ring. MRD 17,4 mm. Crossguard is unit marked: 111. R.R. 61. (= 111 Infantry Reserve Regiment Markgraf Ludwig Wilhelm. (3. Badisches) 61e Battalion. Home base: Rastatt )
Excellent black tooled leather scabbard with brass fittings. Top mount is unit marked: 76. R. R. 4. 42. ( 76. Infantry Reserve Regiment Hamburg (2e. Hanseatisches ) 4. battalion. rifle Nb. 42. Home base Hamburg.) Throat and chape are nicely marked with German inspection markings. No dents to the top mount, a couple of very small dents to the chape only. All stitches intact.
The infantry Regiments in the Prussian army No. 109, 110, 111, 114, 115 were from the Kingdom of Baden.
