German (Prussia) M 1871 bayonet by F. A. HERMES. Matching unit marking! (ABCN1229)(K366)(JN78-1)
Mauser M71 rifle/Mauser M71/84 rifle / Werder M1869 Rifle. Excellent bright finished fullered blade. Rare German makers name : F. A. HERMES (= Friederich August HERMES - SOLINGEN) on the ricasso. Blade spine is crisp marked and dated: Crown over W over '76 over an inspection marking. The rever side of the blade spine is marked; B over G over P. Excellent brass grip with a blued external spring. Excellent bright finished steel crossguard with quillon and muzzle ring. MRD 17,4 mm. Inspection marking on the crossguard facing the blade. Crossguard is matching unit marked: F . δ. 276. (= Etappen Flieger Bataillon 276 = 276 Pilot Bataillon behind the front lines )
Excellent tooled black leather scabbard with brass fittings. No dents to the marked fittings and all stitches intact. Top mount is crisp matching unit marked: F. δ. 276. Throat is marked: Crown over B.
