German M 1871 Infanterie "Extra Seitengewehr" by Clemen & Jung. (ABCN 1221)(K0)(JN80-1)
German M 1871 Infanterie "Extra Seitengewehr"/"Walking Out" side arm". Not a bayonet!. Excellent bright finished plain blade. Red felt washer intact. German maker's trademark: Z in a shield (= Clemen & Jung-Solingen) crisp on the left ricasso. Very nice brass grip and brass crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 15 mm and a forward and backward swept quillon. Grip with no mortise slot but there is a not working blued external spring. Left side of the grip is smooth and the right side shows 16 ribs.
No scabbard.
These side arms were privately purchased by enlisted man and infantry cadets for "Walking Out" off duty.
