Belgian M 1889 Mid-length Home Guard bayonet. Unit marked for District Huy.(ABCN566-1)(K221)(JN0)

Belgian Mauser M 1889  rifle, rifle Cal. 7.65. Serial number: T 2139 on the left crossguard. Excellent bright finished fullered mid length blade. (300 cm.) with some very light peppering to the tip of the blade only. Belgium inspection marking:  VD under a crown in a trilob on the ricasso. N in a box inspection mark on the blade spine. Bright finished pommel and crossguard with forward swept guillon, marked on the right side: N in a box.  Right crossguard is marked: 280  Large AG  (= Home Guard District: AG= District Huy. ) and another crisp N in a box.  Muzzle ring MRD 17.5 mm. Excellent wooden grips secured by two screw bolts and washers.
No scabbard.

The prefix on the right crossguard stands for a Home Guard District. In this case: the AG marking stands for District Huy. 

This very rare mid-length version, with a blade length of 300 mm was used by the Belgian Home Guard (Civil Guard) only. Seldom encountered model!
