Swedish M 1859 Infantry Officers sword. Superb bright finished curved damascus steel pipe back blade. The blade is different etched on both sides. The left side is deep etched in a scroll with floral motives: "Konungen" and the right side is deep etched: "Fåderneslandel" in a scrol with floral motives (= For King and Country) and a Sunburst over the Coat of Arms of Sweden: Three crowns in a crowned shield, held by two lions. German makers name: W. SCHMOLZ & Co. in two lines on the ricasso. Also the blade spine is crisp marked with the German makers name in a panel: W. SCHMOLZ & Co. SOLINGEN. There are two more etches on the ricasso; On the left side: Stål Damast (= Damascus steel) in a scroll and on the right side: Fernhuggare (=?) in a scroll. Leather washer is intact.
Beautiful non-detachable regulation gilt pierced hilt with a rich variation of ornaments. The gilt is not polished off! Guilded hand guard, pierced and decorated with a lot of floral motives. The top of the brass back strap of the hilt is engraved as the detachable hilt cap is. Beautiful wooden grip covered with grey ray skin and an intact twisted red copper wire winding.
Excellent plated steel scabbard with two loose hanging rings. Some very light user spurs but no dents.
Comes with its Excellent and genuine sword portopee as found. Excellent silver strap with three silver wires and intact slide. Excellent silver stam, crown and achorn. Silver core.
