German M 1917 cylindrical hilt ersatz bayonet converted to a fighting knife. Serial number 59 on crossguard. Very good bright finished re-pointed plain blade, showing some field sharpening which you can expect with this kind of transitions. Blade is let into the hilt for 1,7 mm and is riveted and brazed. Excellent solid cast "feldgrau" painted complete cylindrical massive steel hilt with . 98 marking on top of the pommel. T-O slot in pommel. Oil hole ca 1.0 mm away from the crossguard. Catch is professional filed flush with the hilt and is now hard to see. Crossguard with no muzzle ring and short straight quillon.
Very good correct shortened feldgrau painted standard ersatz scabbard showing a number of small dents only.

This model, as a bayonet, was solely designed for the K98 rifle, ( marked so on the pommel).
