Austrian made Siamese M 1888 bayonet. (ABCN359-2)(K547)(JN169-1)
Mannlicher rifle M 1888 Kal. 8 mm. Serial number: 5 . 211 on the crossguard. Excellent bright fullered cutting edge downwards blade. Right ricasso marked IIQ (= Second Quality) on the ricasso . Excellent bright finished pommel with T-slot and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 16.5 mm. Fastener on top of the muzzle ring. Top of the pommel with Siamese caracters. Excellent wooden grips riveted to the blade tang. back of the hilt is marked: L.G.
Very good blackened Siamese M 1902 scabbard with some small indentations only. no dents.
This is an Austrian M 1888 bayonet, exported to Siam (Thailand) around 1900. Around 1890 Steyer furnished ca. 15.000 M 1888 bayonets to Siam.
This model is known in Siam as 'The 46th year type bayonet".
