Description
British SMLE rifle. Serial number: 59 on pommel. Minty bright finished fullered blade, first 2 cm blackened. Blued pommel with T-O slot and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD: 16,5 mm. Minty wooden grips secured to the blade tang by screw bolts . Oil hole in grip. No flash guard.
Minty blued scabbard with no markings and central screw to hold the throat in position.
A very interesting well made bayonet. These were made in Austria for export to Afghanistan and fixed on British SMLE rifles.
It is unknown how many bayonet were ever made and exported, but it could not be a lot.
