Dutch infantry troopers short sword M 1819. No.2.(JP 74-108)
Nederlands "Infanterie sabel No.2 (M 1819)"/ Dutch Infantry troopers short sword No.2 (M 1819) Excellent bright finished plain blade with no markings and a few stains on the left side only. Leather washer intact. Very good one piece cast brass hilt with a single hand guard and a guillon with a short acorn shaped finial. Ribbed grip.
Typical Dutch steel rivet in the center of the grip. Serial number B 410 and date 1830 on the top of the hilt. The left grip shows two light indentations, but not very serieus.
Very good and correct black leather scabbard with clear tooling and a white buff leather cuff and strap. All stitches intact. Round steel finial ferrule.
Scabbard shows a hard to read serial number 9475 1 B 8 and another date 18.....
The M 1819 No. 2 infantry short sword was a Dutch produced edged weapon with clear influence of the French M 1801 briquet. The Dutch M 1819 can be told by the typical steel rivet in the center of the grip and the steel finial of the leather scabbard.
Comes in its correct and rare patent leather belt frog.
Not a very scarce short sword, but hard to find in this condition with the correct Dutch all leather scabbard and even rarer belt frog.
