Mexican Mauser M 1912. Serial number 05513 over F on pommel. Excellent bright fullered blade with Austrian makers logo: OEWG (= Oestenreichische Waffenfabriks Gesellshaft Steyr Austria) in two lines on the ricasso. Long bright pommel with TO slot. Excellent bright finished crossguard with a muzzle ring: MRD 15,5 mm. Very good wooden grips secured to the blade tang by two screw bolts and oil hole. Total length 384 mm. The correct all metal blued scabbard shows several small dents and is correct F marked on the oval frog stud F 13686.

This is an Austrian export bayonet and part of a Mexican contract prior to WWI. Due to the outbreak of WWI, these were never delivered to Mexico but used on the Austrian-Italian Alpine frontline during WWI by Austrian volunteer units.
A very interesting bayonet.
