English No.1 MK1. RAF issued bayonet by WSC. (Pattern 1907) Admiralty contract (BCB281)
Sterling Lanchester M 1941 SMG Mk.I and Mk.I*. Serial number 473 on pommel. Excellent parkerised blade marked Crown- GR- 1907- WSC (=Wilkinson Sword Company)and date 6 '42 in five lines on the ricasso. Enfield inspection marking. /|\ and X on the reverse side of the ricasso. Excellent bright finished pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring. MRD 15.5 mm. Oil hole in pommel. Excellent wooden grips. Excellent black leather scabbard. Excellent parkerized top mount and chape, both marked and no dents. Oval frog stud with no rivets! and all stitches intact. Leather body is very crisp marked /|\ M44 /J.B.B. and dated '45. Comes with its blue/grey webbing Air Force bayonet frog.
In order of the Admiralty, Wilkinson swords company made a last production round on P.07 bayonets for the 9 mm Sterling M 1941 Lanchester submachine gun, wich was issued to the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. This one does not have a Wilkinson dispersal code, so this particular one was issued to the RAF.
After the war, England sold full equipted naval vessels to Egypt, including many navy issued M 1941 Sterling Lanchester submachine guns and bayonets.
