"Nederlands Lichte Cavalerie Officierssabel M 1814" No.3 / Dutch Light Cavalry officers sword M 1814, No.3. Excellent heavy curved and fullered bright plane blade with Dutch makers name C. GRAVELOTTE and ZWAARDVEEGER (= "Sword maker" in the Dutch language) crisp in a scroll on both sides of the blade. There are a few small areas of acceptable light staining to the blade only. Excellent and large brass hilt with a brass pommel. Brass hilt back strap with wings holding the grip with a bright polished steel rivet. 3 brass bars hand guard. There is an unusual and correct working small brass folding counter guard. 
Hilt with marron brown leather covered ribbed wooden grip with intact double twisted brass wire winding. Excellent brass light weight scabbard with two brass loose brass hanging rings. Usual user spurs only. Steel drag.

A very rare and unusual Dutch M 1814 Light Cavalry officers sword with a folding counter guard showing clear Napoleonic influence! A clear High rank officers sword!
The No.3 model was designed in 1814 and was adopted in 1816. It was used by the Light and Horse Cavalry till 1845 and by the Horse Artillery till 1880. 

C. Gravelotte
 was a Dutch sword maker (Zwaardveeger) from the Hague. Since most Dutch sword were made by German sword makers in Solingen this is an exception. C. Gravelotte was not a sword retailer but a real Dutch sword maker. He worked from 1815 till 1857.
Total length 98 cm. Blade width, measured at the ricasso, 3,2 cm. 

Very hard to find Dutch "High rank" and beautiful Light Cavalry officers sword. This is in an Excellent condition!
