French M 1801 (An X) infantry troopers short sword (Briquet). Excellent++ bright finished long plain blade with a unreadable makers mark on the ricasso partly covered by an intact leather washer: WIW? The left ricasso is stamped with a French inspector marking : Dot over L in a box. .
Beautiful heavy one piece brass hilt with a single hand guard and a forward swept quillon. Grip with 28 fine ribs. Crosguard is marked wit a T facing the blade. Left side of the hand guard is marked with another French inspection marking. Dot over L in a box.
No scabbard.
