Swiss M 1842 Pioneer or Engineer sawback short sword (Faschinenmesser) Serial number: 2429 S on crossguard. Excellent+ bright plain sawback blade with large sharp teeth. Length of blade 515 mm. Crisp German makers name, date and residence: GEBR. WEYERSBERG -77 - SOLINGEN in three lines on the ricasso. Reverse ricasso is marked with a Swiss cross in a circle stamp. Leather washer intact. Excellent Roman style massive and heavy one piece ribbed brass grip with round pommel. Brass straight crossguard with 2 round finished quillons. Quillon with 5 rings. An Excellent black stiff leather scabbard with all stitches in tact and brass mounts with no dents. Black leather retaining strap in tact. Top mount and chape are both marked: 20.
Comes with its Excellent and unique black leather Gotthard Besteck frog.
