German Mauser M 1871 rifle, M1871/74 and M 1888 Commission rifle. Very good+ bright finished fullered sawback blade with a few small patches of light pitting spread over the blade. Sawback with 48 teeth. German maker's name; P. D. - LÜNENSCHLOSS - SOLINGEN in three lines crisp on ricasso. Blade spine is Prussian stamped Crown over W and 75 (date.) Reverse spine is marked AT
Excellent brass grip with oblique grooves on the right side, secured to the blade tang by a steel rivet. The left side is plain. Crisp small German marking on blade tang. Two very crisp German inspection markings on pommel. Excellent blued external spring secured by a steel screw. Steel crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 17,5 mm. Large German Inspection mark on the crossguard towards the blade. Finial on top of the muzzle ring and a back swept quillon. Crisp unit marking on the left side of the crossguard: 11. R. E. 2. 215. (= 11 th. Reserve Grenadier Regiment, König Friedrich III (2. Schlesisches, Home base: Breslau), Second Bataillon,  Rifle number 215)
Very good black leather scabbard with all stitches intact and brass fittings with no dents. Both fittings are marked with crisp German inspection markings. Also to the scabbard throat. 
Scabbard top mount is marked with a not matching unit number:  144. R. E. 3226 (- 144 Lothringishes Reserve Infantry Regiment, Home base Metz and Diedenhofen). There is an other crossed out unit number on the top mount17 R. 7924 ( = 17 th. Infantry Regiment Graf Barfuβ, Home base Morchingen)


The M 1871 sawback bayonet was mainly issued to infantry NCO's and that was ca. 6% only of the German army. 
A very rare and very impressive bayonet in a nearly Excellent condition.
