British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No.7 rifle. Second pattern. Superb bright finished fullered blade. Ricasso marked with crisp makers name WILKINSON, and Crown- GR- 1907 - dated 5 '18  British inspection marks on reverse side of ricasso.  Excellent walnut grips. Bright polished pommel (not chromed!) and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 16.5 mm. Oil hole in pommel. Pommel is very crisp unit marked R A F over 1 over 5809 in 3 rows. The opposite side is marked 1/5809 and an out of service crossmark Excellent black leather MKII scabbard. Bright finished fittings. Top mount with almond style frog stud and three rivets. Scabbard throat is also marked R A F  and 5 and JH . All stitches intact and no dents to the metal fittings. Light pitting to the scabbard chape only. Top mount and chape are both faint marked with American maker's logo:  RE (=REMINGTON).

It comes with a very good blue khaky M 1937 R.A.F. frog with no markings.

The Royal Air Force, the R.A.F., was founded on the first of May 1918. This bayonet is also marked May 1918
