British Lee Enfield (SMLE) No.7 rifle. Second pattern bayonet. Serial/unit (?) number B 22, stamped on left grip. Excellent sand blasted blade. Frirst 2 cm blackened. Ricasso crisp marked with British makers name J.A.C. (= James A. CHAPMAN Ltd. of Sheffield) and dated 09 '16, Crown over GR over 1907. Ricasso is also dated '31, '35 and '39.  Clear British inspection marks on reverse side of ricasso and another date: '23.  Excellent walnut grips stamped with large digits B 22.  Excellent blued pommel and crossguard with muzzle ring MRD 16.5 mm. Oil hole in pommel.
Excellent black leather MKII scabbard. Blued top mount with almond style frog stud and three rivets. All stitches intact and no dents to the metal fittings. 
Comes with an excellent M 1937 khaky frog as found. (AC160) Heavely overstiched eyelet made by Mills Equipment Company in 1942.

CHAPMAN is, besides MOLE and VICKERS, one of the rarer makers of the M 1907 bayonet. CHAPMAN Ltd. made 300,000 bayonets only. A certain (early) part is marked J.A.C. and the another (later)part is marked CHAPMAN. (They seem to have switched to CHAPMAN around 1917)
