Belgian Douane (Customs) Thouvenin carbine. Cal. 17,5 mm. Serial number: 20 in the mortise slot. Superb bright finished very long fullered straight blade. Ricasso shows a crisp date: 1867 and a Crown over GD in a trilob. Blade spine is marked: LD. Beautiful brass ribbed grip with a large pommel. Pommel has a shorter mortise than the M 1848 Jaeger model. External leave spring. Pommel is marked: Crown over HL in a trilob
Steel crossguard with a straight short quillon and a very large muzzle ring: MRD 21 mm.
Very good long black leather scabbard with a brass top mount, marked: Crown over GD in a trilob. The scabbard shows a small old repair only, but all stitches are intact. Internal steel chape.
Comes with its very rare thick white buff leather belt with a steel buckle and its white buff leather bayonet frog. Leather is supple.
Extremely rare M 1848 customs bayonet, special complete with its, almost impossible to find, very rare fragile long leather scabbard, buff leather frog and belt.
