German (Saxon) M 1871 Jaegerbuchse. Hirschfanger Jaeger model. Very good- bright finished pipe backed blade. Blade shows fine pitting/peppering all over. German makers name and residence on the ricasso: GEBR. SIMSON- SUHL. Bright finished large steel eagle head pommel with crisp German inspection marking: Crown over E. Very good checkered black leather grips riveted to the blade tang by 5 pins. The grips are somewhat swollen only. Blade tang with German Inspection marking Crown over E. Bright finished crossguard with muzzle ring (MRD 17,2 mm) and cock comb. Back swept quillon. Quillon is marked facing the blade: Crown over E.
No scabbard.
